I wanted to take a second to share with you guys what God has been doing in our family and hearts over the past few years/months/weeks... For the last few years I have felt God calling me into church planting, but that youth ministry at Hope was where he wanted our family for now. The past few years have been an amazing time of seeing student come to know Christ and grow in their faith! However, God has continued to confirm the call to church planting and we feel like God is telling us that now is the time to take that step of faith. This has nothing to do with any ill feelings toward Hope. We love Hope and it will always have a special place in our hearts...between Jen (my wife) and I, we have been at hope for 17 years and God has truly done some remarkable things in our lives through this church.
I am in the final step of interviewing with Lifepointe church (www.lifepointechurch.com) in North Raleigh to spend a year of residency on staff with the church. After the completion of the year, Lifepointe church along with two church planting organizations will be our mother church as they send us out to plant a church in the Raleigh area near N.C. State’s campus. We are also hoping to partner with Hope in any ways possible.
Our last day at Hope will be June 7th. That will allow us to finish out the school year with the students and see the 8th graders we have spent the last three years with move up to High School. We love the students, leaders, interns, and fellow staff members and it will be really hard to leave these incredible relationships.
Finally, I would love to have you pray for our family in a few areas...
1. June the 21st we will be going to the Church Planter’s Assessment Center in Chicago with Lifepointe to go through assessment. Pray that everything goes well there and the Lord clearly confirms his will one final time to both us and Lifepointe. After that we will officially be church planter residents there.
2. Once we are confirmed we will have to raise our support for the next year as we are preparing to launch the church and doing our residency at Lifepointe. That is a daunting task, especially in this economy, but we are confident that together with the prayers of those who love us, God can make it happen.
3. This Summer and Fall will be a time of a lot of transition in our youth ministry as I leave, we launch multisite youth ministry, and we restructure some of our programs. Pray that the students will see the positives of these changes and not focus on negatives. Pray that our students continue to cling to Christ and the student ministry at Hope will be able to reach more students than ever!
4. LASTLY, we are forming a prayer team that we will send out period updates about what is going on and ask you to join us in prayer for different issues. It will also be a great way for us to stay connected to all of the people we love at Hope. If you would be willing to be a part of our prayer team just shoot me an email at email@example.com to join up!
