Today I finished the book of Proverbs and the last chapter talks about the wife of Noble Character. It tells us how valuable she is, what her character looks like, and most importantly for me... that if you have a wife of noble character she deserves to be praised!
"Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate." - Proverbs 31:30-31
I am one of the very few husbands out there to have truly been blessed with this wife of Noble Character. I was thinking about what the "city gate" of our culture is...and I guess it would have to be the internet. So, I thought I would share with everyone out there about my wife Jen.
Some of the characteristics of the wife of noble character is that she is hardworking, provides financially where possible, takes care of her family and house, generous, wise, and is respected by others. As I was reading this I was really humbled by just how amazing Jen is!
Over the past several months as we have begun the process of planting a church and raising our financial support for the next year...Jen has picked up an extra weekend shift at her part time job, taken up nannying another child during the day, spent almost every night meeting with people to share about what God has called us to do, folded and addressed support and thank you letters, and listened to me talk ENDLESSLY about planting a church! All of this in addition to taking care of the house, being the best mom in the world to Addison, and a wonderful wife to me!
I am so grateful that God has blessed my life with her and I am certainly guilty of taking her for granted! Anyone who knows Jen knows exactly what an amazing person she is, but I just wanted to make sure that everyone knows what an amazing wife she is! I love you sweetie.
