“Expect great things from God, attempt great things for God.” – William Carey
Here at The Point Church we do expect great things from God, and therefore we are stepping out in faith to attempt something great for God!
We believe with all our heart that God has placed our church here for “such a time as this!” We believe there are people in Raleigh, Cary, Apex, and all over the Triangle that God has specifically placed our church here to bring the message of Jesus to, help them follow him, and see them transformed into disciples who will infect their community with the hope of Jesus Christ!
Through our recent merger with our brothers and sisters at Cary Christ Church, we now for the first time have a permanent facility in Cary in an unbelievable location on Walnut Street. Walnut Street is the second most traveled street in all of Cary!
This year we are trying to raise 50 thousand dollars during the month of December through our Give A Church Campaign to go toward renovating our building.
You might be thinking… how is renovating a building giving people a church? I’m glad you asked!
4 WAYS RENNOVATING OUR BUILDING WILL GIVE PEOPLE A CHURCH
1. Cary Church –
This building will allow us to have a permanent, rent free facility to launch our third campus of The Point Church in the Town of Cary. In the spring, once the building renovation is complete, we will publically launch in Cary with a massive outreach and marketing initiative that we are praying will lead to over a hundred new people to find a church home! Really think about that… over 100 people who live in Cary who currently do not have a church family and many do not know Jesus Christ… but that will change!
2. Community Outreach -
“In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Hellenistic Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food.” – Acts 6:1
The Early Church was the way God cared for the community! For example, they had a daily distribution of food to widows. I can’t name a church that has a daily distribution of food anymore!
Verses like this started to open our eyes to what God wants to do through The Point Church! God has given us a great facility in a great location in the Triangle! What could this building be?
What if the community knew that they could come to this building and be loved? What if people knew that they could come here and have their needs met? What if a portion of the building was turned into a Replenish food pantry and we served a 100 people every week! What if every Saturday people in our community knew where they could come and get a bag of groceries? What if instead of just giving out a bag of groceries, we also prayed with people who are hurting, and gave them a hot meal, and provided them clothes.
Think about the influence and light we could be to our community!!
3. Church Planting Center –
"Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus...He took the disciples with him and had discussions daily in the lecture hall of Tyrannus. This went on for two years, so that all the Jews and Greeks who lived in the province of Asia heard the word of the Lord."
- Acts 19:1,9-10
We believe discipleship is the engine that drives mission!
Paul utilized a building called the “Hall of Tyrannus”. We don’t know exactly what he was happening in these discussions at this building but I believe from the context this building was used as a ministry training center. I believe Paul was training and equipping these believers to take the Gospel to the surrounding towns and villages in Asia.
Our prayer is that this facility will become our Hall of Tyrannus… our Church Planting Center for the Triangle! This will be where believers, staff, and church planting residents are trained to reach our area!
4. Hispanic Campus –
Our current goal is for the 4th campus of The Point Church to be a Hispanic Campus that will also begin meeting in this renovated facility in the beginning of 2015! We already have a Hispanic Life Group that meets at the building every Wednesday night!
I hope you are starting to get a picture for just how many people you could Give A Church to this Christmas by helping us to renovate this building.
There are over a million people in the Triangle who need to know the good news of Jesus and if we don’t go they may never know! People in towns like Garner, Chapel Hill, Holly Springs, Knightdale, Durham, and Pittsboro.
I believe we are at a critical moment in the life of our church movement! Not only does The Point have the opportunity to reach people in Cary but through renovating this building it can become a church planting center that will train and facilitate new churches all over the Triangle!!
However, this will not happen unless we are willing to sacrifice.
Is that something you are willing to sacrifice for??
Our prayer goal is to raise $50k in the month of December to give people in Cary and all over the Triangle a church family this Christmas. Currently we are close to halfway there! I know if we join together in giving generously and sacrificially to the Kingdom, God will provide all we need!
Here is a list of a few of the renovations we are seeking to make over the new three months:
- Awnings over the handicap ramps to fix flooding problems
- New sign for the road on Walnut Street
- Removing trees that obstruct the view from the road
- Complete remodel of the children's area with engaging theme
- Technology upgrade of audio/visual equipment
- Expansion of the Lobby through wall removal.
- Renovation of sanctuary
- Expansion of Preschool Room
- Repurposing and expanding room downstairs for office
- Repurpose a room downstairs for food pantry
