Nehemiah 8 - SOAP Meditation

In the first half of Nehemiah we see a focus on building a wall.  In the second half of Nehemiah we see a focus on building a people.  The walls are built and the house of worship is completed.  Now Nehemiah and Ezra turn their focus to helping the people be the men and women God created them to be!  I pray that as we look at the last half of Nehemiah together we will take seriously the challenge to be the people God created us to be!

My prayer in posting this is for you to be inspired to read and meditate on each chapter of the book of Nehemiah yourself!  I pray meditating on God's Word becomes an essential part of the life of every person at The Point Church! (Psalm 1:1-3).  Below is my SOAP meditation from the eighth chapter of the book of Nehemiah

S "They read from the book of the Law of God, making it clear and giving the meaning so that the people could understand what was being read… day after day… Ezra read from the book of the Law of God." Nehemiah 8:8,18

O The people of God had been spiritually starving. They were completely ignorant of what the Word of God commanded. By spending an entire week soaking in God’s word a revival began to break out.

A I need to be continually immersing myself in God’s word! I need to continue to lead our church to be immersed so that we may know Jesus and how to follow him.

P Father, give me and our church a passion for the word of God! Give us wisdom on how to do that. Move my heart and the hearts of people at The Point to devote themselves to your word. In Jesus name. Amen.
