This Sunday is our Celebration Sunday! It is a day of celebration for what God has down but it is more of a starting line than a finish line. We have so much work to do to reverse the spiritual condition of our community. While we celebrate what God has done we can never forget what still needs to be done. We must take seriously our call to be a people set apart as instruments of God's grace to those around us!
My prayer in posting this is for you to be inspired to read and meditate on each chapter of the book of Nehemiah yourself! I pray meditating on God's Word becomes an essential part of the life of every person at The Point Church! (Psalm 1:1-3). Below is my SOAP meditation from the ninth chapter of the book of Nehemiah
S "They stood where they were and read from the Book of the Law of the Lord their God for a quarter of the day, and spend another quarter in confession and worshiping the Lord their God." Nehemiah 9:3
O The Israelites were not playing around! Confession! Sackcloth, ashes, reading the Word, and singing! They took this very seriously and were truly repentant.
A I am so excited to teach these worship practices to our church and truly seek out God’s face! We must mourn and weep and pray for our city. My heart must be broken for those who don’t know my King and Savior, Jesus Christ!
P Father, may you give us a spirit of brokenness over our sin and the spiritual ruin of our community. May you turn our hearts toward you and the spiritual revival of the Triangle. In Jesus name. Amen.
